Controls Upgrades

Keep the equipment. Improve the controls around it.

Mechanical equipment can remain useful after its controls become difficult to support. Bayvarn evaluates the existing system, documents its behavior, and defines a controls upgrade around the customer’s operating needs. The scope may involve a targeted change or a complete controls replacement.

Understand the starting point

We review controller and display versions, available programs, wiring records, machine interfaces, and known production issues. The team observes normal operation and the exceptions operators handle every day. Missing programs or unclear behavior become explicit discovery tasks before the final upgrade scope is fixed.

Define the change

Typical projects replace an operator display, update a programmable logic controller, revise drive controls, or add clearer fault information. We describe what the new system will do and which existing functions it must preserve. Changes to adjacent machines are listed separately so the customer can coordinate those responsibilities.

Plan the production window

The project includes a backup of the available starting configuration, a change record, and an agreed restart plan. Where practical, the team tests sequences away from production before the shutdown. The customer confirms access, production samples, and the staff needed for acceptance.

Test normal and interrupted operation

Acceptance covers more than starting the equipment. We test the agreed stops, missing signals, blocked zones, and recovery sequences. Operators review the new display and instructions. The final record states the software versions and settings that were accepted.

Leave a maintainable system

The handover includes the agreed editable program files, display project, parameter records, and updated documentation. Bayvarn explains any unresolved limitation in the existing equipment. A controls change does not become a mechanical repair unless that additional work is included and approved.
